Deutsche Post makes Appel head of logistics, moves Allan to CFO

Germany’s Deutsche Post World Net, owners of DHL, said today that Frank Appel will take over from John Allan as head of its logistics division, effective Oct. 1.

Appel, based in Bracknell, near London in the United Kingdom, will retain responsibility for the group’s international mail unit. He will also remain in charge for Global Customer Solutions (GCS), Corporate Regulatory Management as well as the 'First Choice' program, which is Deutsche Post’s quality and customer service improvement initiative.

At the same time, Allan will replace Edgar Ernst as chief financial officer and assume responsibility for Global Business Services (GBS) from Appel. Ernst is retiring to focus on his academic career, Deutsche Post said.
