DFDS increases 2006 outlook after robust freight growth    Danish short-sea operator DFDS has upgraded its profit expectations for 2006 after 'continued robust market situation in the freight sector.'
   DFDS raised its pre-tax profit expectation to DKK400 million ($68.2 million) from the DKK325 million it expected at the half-year point.
   'The profit increase is attributable to the freight activities in DFDS Tor Line, where market growth exceeded expectations in the third quarter, which improved capacity utilization and hence earnings. In addition, the renewal of the fleet has contributed to creating a competitive cost level,' DFDS said in a statement.
   Looking to capitalize on the strength of the freight market, DFDS is in the process of acquiring European continent/Ireland    lift-on/lift-off carrier Norfolk Line Containers from the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.
   The company said its passenger unit, DFDS Seaways, performed as expected in the third quarter in 'difficult trading conditions.'
   DFDS will announce its third quarter results Nov. 29.
