DGX opens Port Kelang facility

   The international freight forwarder and logistics provider DGX-Dependable Global Express said this week it is expanding in Asia with a new inbound and outbound ocean and air facility in Port Kelang, the closest seaport to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
   The new location, headed by Zach Nice, Dependable Global Express’ Director, Southeast Asia, will emphasize less-than-container load (LCL) ocean shipments on the inbound leg and full containerload (FCL) freight outbound. Air service will be provided by DGX’s sister company, Dependable AirCargo Express (DAX).
   Nice said the great majority of DGX outbound cargo will be loaded directly at Port Kelang for faster shipment to U.S. and world ports. A Malaysian-Singapore trucking service for outbound cargo also will be offered.
   Malaysia is a major exporter of electronic and computer components, auto parts, medical devices, home furnishings and apparel.
   “While Malaysian exports to Europe have slowed due to that continent’s financial crisis, the U.S. is on the upbeat with greater consumer and business dollar volume forecast for the latter part of 2012,” Nice said.
   DGX has existing offices in Shanghai, Singapore, Jakarta and Manila.
