DHL continues push into Indonesia

   DHL Global Forwarding is adding two new offices to its existing seven offices in Indonesia, expanding its operations to Manado and Palembang.
   The new offices, which will open before the end of 2013, are part of a large push by DHL into Indonesia that will see more offices open up in the next two years, according to a company press release. 
   “Indonesia is one of the four MIST countries — Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey — identified as the next group of fast-growing economies by both economists and DHL alike,” DHL Global Forwarding’s Kelvin Leung said in a statement. “DHL is well-positioned to play a key role in the development of solutions for Indonesia’s logistics industry, and we are aligning our expansion to support the growth of Indonesia’s economic corridors, its growing economic importance in the region and investment by major global companies.”
   According to Statistics Indonesia, Manado boasted $63.2 million in U.S. exports in January and is growing rapidly. DHL anticipates increased exports of seafood, spices, coffee and mining-related cargo from the city. Statistics Indonesia reported Palembang’s January exports to the U.S. at nearly $300 million. – Jon Ross
