Construction on the 63,000-square-meter site in north central Germany is expected to break ground at the beginning of 2018, according to DHL.
The development includes the consolidation of the two existing Hanover sites (Stelingerstrasse and Büttnerstrasse) at the new location.
Approximately 260 employees will handle scheduling and consolidation for the company’s European freight network from the new site.
The site will feature a transshipment terminal equipped with over 80 loading bays, and stretching across more than 7,800 square meters, it will provide enough capacity to process over 600,000 tons of less-than-truckload cargo per year.
“The new Langenhagen site will not only handle DHL Freight’s LTL service but will also play a decisive role for the company’s full-truckload service,” DHL said. “There, a dedicated team of Euronet experts will handle the complex transport requirements of customers both at home and abroad, providing tailored logistics solutions ranging from onsite transport management to end-to-end design and optimization of incoming and outgoing commodity flows.”
