DHL to move to larger Charleston site

DHL Global Forwarding, part of the logistics division of DHL, will Oct. 1 relocate its ocean freight and customs brokerage operations in Charleston, S.C. to a larger facility closer to the Port of Charleston and Charleston International Airport.

The address of the new facility is 5955 Core Road, North Charleston, S.C. 29406. DHL said it will combine the integrated operations of the former DHL Danzas Air & Ocean and Exel Global Logistics freight management operations, each of which previously did business at separate locations in Charleston.

“Charleston is the second-largest container port on the East Coast, is our primary port for ocean cargo moving to and from the Southeast U.S., and is our import gateway for less-than-container load traffic transiting from Europe,” said Ben English, DHL Global Forwarding’s district manager, Charleston. “Our new facility will better accommodate our robust product offerings, and will position our customers and our company to capitalize on Charleston’s increased prominence in international trade and commerce.”
