DHL to ship Airbus parts to Ala. facility

   DHL Global Forwarding will work with Airbus to ship parts for its A319, A320 and A321 planes from a production site in Germany to the company’s new facility in Mobile, Ala., for final assembly.
   The agreement will commence in 2015. DHL will load components like wings and fuselages onto air and ocean carriers for the journey from Hamburg, Germany; the cargo will make its final routing to Alabama via truck.
   “The ocean and air freight transportation of sensitive aircraft parts demands special considerations such as safety clearance on ocean freighters, flatness of the ground and limited acceleration forces,” DHL Global Forwarding’s Volker Oesau, chief executive officer of Middle Europe, said in a statement.
