DHL unveils Big Data tool

   DHL has launched Resilience360, a supply-chain risk management tool using Big Data that the company says will help customers protect against supply chain disruptions.
   The idea comes out of DHL’s “Big Data in Logistics” report, which was released in December. The company is also piloting two additional programs, one of which would anticipate package volume trends.
   According to DHL, Resilience360 includes instruments that will monitor supply chains as well as a risk-assesment study.
   “Resilience360 is a perfect example of the economic benefits of Big Data analytics in logistics. Aggregating and evaluating data safeguards and improves the efficiency of supply chains. Thus, business operation is maintained and customer satisfaction optimized sustainably,” Markus Kückelhaus, head of trend research at DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation, said in a statement. “Our report also shows two other potential applications of Big Data analytics: the improvement of operational efficiency and the possibility of exploring new business models.”
