DHL using helicopters in Lower Manhattan

DHL using helicopters in Lower Manhattan DHL said that by using helicopters to avoid New York City traffic, it is now able to offer next-day delivery from Lower Manhattan to nine major cities in Europe.
   Helicopters will ferry freight over congested roadways direct to JFK International Airport where it will be placed on transatlantic jets.
   DHL said that while it has offered the whirlybird service in the past for select customers, it has now expanding the service to all shippers at no additional charge. Targeted industries include financial services, banking, insurance, advertising and publishing.
   From Monday to Thursday, DHL said it would offer next-day service to Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, London, Madrid, Paris and Zurich. Cutoff time is 2 p.m. Delivery by noon is available in Paris and Zurich and will be expanded to other cities, DHL said.
