Dominican Republic implements CSI program

Dominican Republic implements CSI program The Dominican Republic has started its participation in Customs and Border Protection's Container Security Initiative (CSI), the agency said Friday.
   CBP Commissioner W. Ralph Basham said the CSI program for the Dominican Republic was operational at the Port of Caucedo. He said CBP agents are stationed at the port, working with their Dominican counterparts to prescreen and target high-risk containers destined for the U.S.
   'This marks a step forward in the protection of goods moving from the Caribbean to the United States, as well as a step ahead for Dominican-U.S. commerce,' Basham said.
   The activation of the Dominican CSI program came just a day after the program was implemented in Jamaica.
