DP World head seeks investment ties in Australia

DP World head seeks investment ties in Australia    Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of marine terminal operator Dubai Ports World, is meeting with federal and state Australian officials this week to discuss infrastructure and other types of investments in the continent.
   Sulayem is also chairman of Dubai World, the investment arm of the Dubai government that owns DP World. Talks will cover the potential for investment in property, tourism and infrastructure such as business parks and port terminals, Dubai World said in a news release.
   The Dubai official is also visiting DP World’s five terminals in Australia, acquired last year through the purchase of London-based P&O Ports.
   Officials Sulayem is meeting include Mark Vaile, deputy prime minister and minister of transport; Ports Minister Tim Pallas; Theo Theophanous, minister of industry and state development; Patrick Conlon, South Australia’s transport minister; Queensland Transport Minister Paul Lucas; and Western Australia Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTeirnan.
   DP World is the world’s fourth-largest port business in the world, with 42 terminals.
