DP World increases Jebel Ali capacity

DP World increases Jebel Ali capacity   The port operator DP World said a 400 meter quay extension at the
Port of Jebel Ali will boost capacity from 14 million TEUs to 15 million TEUs.
   The expansion is slated for completion by the end of
2012.
  By extending the quay at Jebel Ali Container Terminal, DP World said the terminal will be able to handle up to six vessels of 15,000 TEUs capacity simultaneously, improving efficiencies and reducing turnaround times.
   Speaking at the TOC Container Supply Chain Middle East 2011
Conference, Mohammed Al Muallem, senior vice president and managing director of DP World in the United Arab Emirates region, said “we have seen very strong container volume growth in the region, with DP World, UAE region handling a record 6.1 million TEUs in the first six months of 2011.”
