DUPONT, ACCENTURE PLAN LOGISTICS INTEGRATION

DuPont, the chemical products manufacturer, said it will design and build a global enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with assistance from Accenture, a consulting company.

The new system, to be completed by the end of 2003, will shape DuPont’s supply chain to make its worldwide operations more efficient. Under the terms of two contracts signed last month, Accenture will create DuPont’s ERP system using SAP as its primary information technology hub.

DuPont will also outsource maintenance and support to Accenture for six years.

“We were able to craft a solution with Accenture that provided global SAP capability, a blend of fixed price and flexibility, and the lowest possible total cost of ownership,” said Bob Ridout, vice president of DuPont Information Systems.
