Dutch firm to advise on Hong Kong-Macau link    Dutch tunnel engineering collaborative Tunnel Engineering Consultants said Wednesday it has joined a consortium advising the Chinese government during design and construction of a 35-kilometer bridge and tunnel combination to link Hong Kong, Macau and the Chinese mainland.
   The project in China's Pearl River Delta region involves a series of conventional bridges and cable bridges, newly created islands and a six-kilometer immersed tunnel. From a logistics perspective, it would link Hong Kong by road to the west side of the Pearl River Delta, and the growing ports there in Zhuhai and Nansha.
   Construction is to begin at the end of this year, with the massive project slated to open in 2015.
   TEC has prior experience in tunnel engineering in Holland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, South Korea and Mexico. TEC was also previously involved in the Hong Kong-Macau mainland project, providing advice to the Chinese government in charge of the conceptual design of the bridges, tunnels and islands.
