Duties readied for Taiwanese steel fittings

The Commerce Department has determined that forged steel fittings from Taiwan are being dumped on the U.S. market at less than fair value.    The Commerce Department has determined that forged steel fittings from Taiwan are being dumped on the U.S. market at less than fair value.
As a result, Commerce has assigned a final dumping rate of 116.17 percent to Both Well Steel Fittings Co. Ltd. and Luchu Shin Yee Works Co. Ltd. A similar dumping rate was set for all other Taiwanese producers and exporters of forged steel fittings.
The department will now instruct Customs and Border Protection to continue to collect cash deposits from U.S. importers of these fittings from Taiwan based on the final rates.
According to Commerce, forged steel fittings imports from Taiwan in 2017 were valued at $18.9 million.
The petitioners for the Commerce antidumping duty investigation included Bonney Forge Corp. of Mount Union, Pa., and the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial, and Service Workers International Union in Pittsburgh.
Meanwhile, the U.S. International Trade Commission is scheduled to issue its final determination for this investigation by Sept. 6. If the ITC makes an affirmative final injury determination, Commerce will issue an antidumping order on the Taiwanese steel fittings. If the ITC, however, makes a negative final determination of injury, the investigation will end and no order will be issued.
