The deal helps solidify E2open’s interest in building capability on the demand side, following its acquisition in March of demand-sensing software provider Terra Technology.
E2open said Orchestro provides “demand signal repositories and preemptive analytics for retail and omni-channel fulfillment” by harmonizing retail point-of-sale, syndicated, internal ERP and third-party data into a common view of demand.
More than 200 companies, including multinational manufacturers like Newell Brands, Del Monte and General Mills, along with their omni-channel retail partners, use Orchestro’s analytics to improve on-shelf availability, promotional effectiveness, new product introductions and forecast accuracy, E2open said.
E2open said the Orchestro deal complements its Terra acquisition to provide better demand forecasting, which it called a crucial component of so-called demand-driven supply chains.
“ERP systems were not designed to address the complexities of multi-enterprise supply chains. Manufacturers are accelerating their use of trading partners for manufacturing, distribution, and transportation. E2open’s solutions allow the best-run supply chains to thrive within today’s vastly more complex operating environment,” E2open CEO Michael Farlekas said. “Our recent acquisition of Terra Technology allowed us to help our clients sense demand across the network. With the addition of Orchestro, we will leverage daily, store-item data.”
E2open is owned by Insight Venture Partners, which took the previously public company private in a $273 million deal in 2015.
Orchestro was advised by Avendus Capital, Inc., who acted as its sole financial advisor.
