EC CLEARS AEGON’S PURCHASE OF TRANSAMERICA

   The European Commission has cleared the purchase of Transamerica Corp., the financial, insurance and leasing group, by Dutch insurance company Aegon N.V.
   The EC said that the proposed deal does not create or strengthen a
dominant position.
