Echo Global acquires Raytrans

Echo Global Logistics has acquired Raytrans Distribution Services, a transportation brokerage firm based in Matteson, Ill.

Raytrans, started by James Ray Jr. in 2000, specializes in flatbed, over-sized, auto-haul, as well as traditional dry van brokerage. Effective immediately, the company will operate under the name Echo Global Logistics.

'Echo will benefit from Raytrans' focus and additional scale, while the Raytrans operation will gain from Echo's technology and mode diversification,' said Doug Waggoner, chief executive officer of Echo Global, in a statement.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Echo Global is a privately held Chicago-based firm.
