EDF to build Dunkirk LPG terminal

The board of the Port of Dunkirk Authority (PDA) has selected Electricit' de France to construct a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) terminal.

EDF beat four other bidders to land the contract for the new terminal, which has been earmarked for “Le Clippon” on the eastern side of the Western Outer Harbor.

The terminal is anticipated to require 500 million euros ($626 million) investment and be operational in 2011. It will include an unloading berth for 260,000-m3 LPG carriers, storage tanks and a regassing plant. Initial projections see the terminal processing 4 million to 5 million tons a year.
