Edwing to direct NOAAÆs services center
The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has appointed 30-year agency veteran Richard Edwing as Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services director.
Edwing will oversee the 24-hour a day operation that provides mariners, coastal managers and other users with real-time data on ocean conditions along the United States' 95,000-mile coastline.
Edwing, who joined NOAA in 1976 as part of the Marine Boundary Program, replaces former center director Mike Szabados, who retired in December 2009.
