Under terms of the purchase agreement, EGL has acquired substantial operating assets of Miami International, and agreed to hire its employees. EGL will pay an undisclosed sum in cash, in addition to a two-year earn-out, also in cash, if performance benchmarks are achieved.
Miami International Forwarders, which has a strong presence in the Caribbean, Central and South American markets, will help EGL in “expanding our customer base in the apparel industry,” said Jim Crane, chief executive officer of EGL.
Crane said Miami International’s senior management, Leonard C. Roberts, Bruce D. Roberts, and Jose I. Aguirre, would join EGL “in key management positions.”
