Gregory W. Weigel has been named as the company’s chief operating officer, responsible for freight management, gateway and branch operations, product strategy, carrier procurement and strategic account management. He joined EGL in 1997 and was most recently its executive vice president of global transportation.
Keith W. Winters has been appointed chief administrative officer after eight years at EGL in regional and executive level positions.
Michael D. Slaughter has been promoted to chief accounting officer. He joined the company in 1993 and was EGL’s vice president of finance and investor relations.
William W. LaMothe joins EGL as executive vice president of global logistics. He was most recently an asset manager for Dillon Partnership Ltd. Previously, he has been chief sales and marketing officer for Exel Global Logistics; president and chief executive officer for Exel North America Logistics; and president and CEO of Sky King Freight Systems, a company he founded in 1990.
Samuel B. Slater has been appointed executive vice president of domestic operations, responsible for inbound operations, residential and other business to consumer business, line-haul operations and administrative efficiency. He joined EGL in 1997 and has held both regional and executive management positions.
“These appointments, along with the recent announcement of Bruno Sidler as the president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, round out a very talented senior management team,” said James R. Crane, EGL’s chairman, CEO and largest shareholder.
Crane is heading a team of senior managers in a takeover attempt of EGL with financial backing from Centerbridge Partners L.P. and The Woodbridge Co. Ltd.
