Eimskip CEO Gudnason quits

Eimskip CEO Gudnason quits Baldur Gudnason has resigned as chief executive officer of Icelandic transportation and cold storage company Hf. Eimskipaf'lag 'slands with immediate effect.

   Eimskip said Deputy CEO Stefan Agust Magnusson will serve as CEO until further notification.
   “When I started working for Eimskip in 2004 I had a clear vision,” said Gudnason in a statement. “Eimskip was to become a transport market leader offering total services in the North Atlantic and to become a key international player in the field of temperature controlled cargo globally. These goals have now been achieved and I believe it's the correct timing for leaving the company for other projects.'
   Eimskip operates in about 280 locations in more than 30 countries and has projected turnover of ISK 190 billion ($2.8 billion) for 2008. The company operates 50 vessels, 2,000 trucks and trailers and about 180 cold stores. It employs about 14,000 staff worldwide.
