Eimskip starting U.S./Canada service

Eimskip starting U.S./Canada service Eimskip will begin a service between Halifax and New England ports later this month, but the service will use a smaller ship and not include a New York call as originally planned.
   The service will begin on June 28 or 29, using the 384-TEU Simone J.
   The port rotation will be Boston (Monday); International Marine Terminal in Portland, Maine (Tuesday); Ceres Terminal in Halifax (Wednesday); Halterm Terminal, Halifax (Friday); and Portsmouth, N.H. (Sunday).
   Andrew Haines, executive vice president of liner services at Eimskip, said several factors caused the company not to include a New York call, including the decision of a customer not to use the service. However, he said this was just the first of several services that Eimskip would start in North America as part of its effort to become the premier short-sea carrier in the Northern hemisphere.
