Einertsen to head Aker Yards’ merchant vessels division

Einertsen to head Aker Yards’ merchant vessels division Norwegian shipbuilder Aker Yards has appointed Tom Einertsen as president of its merchant vessels division, effective Sept. 1.
   Einertsen joined Aker Yards in 2003, most recently serving as senior vice president business development. When he takes up his new position he will also become a member of Aker Yard’s executive management team. He will succeed J'rgen Kennemann, who is moving to executive vice president of strategic development.
   Aker Yards’ merchant vessels segment comprises two shipyards in Germany, one in Norway and another two in the Ukraine. The division employs about 5,800 people involved in making container vessels (ranging from 700 to 4,500 TEUs), specialized tankers (product, chemical, gas, juice and shuttle tankers), and icebreaking tonnage as well as dry cargo and multipurpose vessels.
