The U.K-based electric parts distributor has been using Amber Road’s on-demand solution for restricted party screening since 2011, but will now implement the broader Trade Automation Export Management suite, which includes product classification, license determination and management, and landed cost analysis functionalities. The new tools will integrate with the existing automated restricted party screening and Electrocomponents’ ERP system.
Electrocomponents handles 8 million orders and distributes a range of more than 500,000 products to customers in 80 countries through RS Components and Allied Electronics brands. The company has launched a ‘One Global Offer’ initiative, with the objective of selling the majority of its products into every country worldwide.
“We expect some of our growth to come from emerging markets, where the trade environment tends to be highly complex, which is why we’re so keen to deploy Amber Road,” said Charlie Jenkinson, head of compliance at Electrocomponents.
The company is targeting revenue growth through improved supply chain performance and shorter order cycles and the elimination of manual, error-prone cross-border trade processes. Electrocomponents also anticipates efficiencies from cross-border transportation and utilization of more open licenses.
