Electrolux, KX want to turn off water filter imports

ITC is reviewing alleged intellectual property violations by 10 companies based in China and the United States.    Electrolux Home Products Inc. and KX Technologies LLC seek relief from the International Trade Commission under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 for alleged intellectual property law violations by the importation, sale for importation and sale within the United States after importation of certain water filters and components, the ITC announced Thursday.
Electrolux Home Products and KX Technologies are requesting a general exclusion order, to exclude all imports of the referenced products, or alternatively, a limited exclusion order of the referenced products made by firms named in the complaint as respondents, as well as a cease-and-desist order to prevent sales of those products in the United States.
The complaint names as respondents Shenzen Calux Purification Technology Co., Guangzhou Zhixun Xingyi Information Technology Co., Ningbo Pureza Limited, JiangSu Angkua Environmental Technical Co., Ecopure Filter Co., Shenzhen Dakon Purification Tech Co. and HongKong Ecoaqua Co., all of China; Ecolife Technologies Inc. of City of Industry, Calif.; Ecolife Technologies LLC of Brighton, Colo.; and Crystala Filters LLC of Totowa, N.J.
The ITC is collecting comments through June 22 from “proposed respondents,” other interested parties and members of the public, not to exceed five pages, inclusive of attachments.
“Comments should address whether issuance of the relief specifically requested by the complainant in this investigation would affect the public health and welfare in the United States, competitive conditions in the United States economy, the production of like or directly competitive articles in the United States or United States consumers,” the ITC said.
Comments should include explanations on how articles potentially subject to requested remedial orders are used in the United States; identify like or directly competitive articles that the complainants, licensees or third parties make in the U.S. that could replace the subject articles if they were excluded; and explain how the requested remedial orders would impact U.S. consumers, among other things, the ITC said.
