Electrolux to use GT Nexus for freight spend management

The cloud-based global trade technology developer GT Nexus said this week it has been selected by the appliance manufacturer Electrolux to provide a cloud technology platform to automate the global freight spend management process for ocean and air.
“We needed better technology to support our move from normal annual and spot buying to an ongoing, strategic freight management approach,” said Bjorn Vang Jensen, vice president purchasing for global logistics at Electrolux. “GT Nexus connects us with our transport service providers, and allows everyone to see and act on a common set of shared rate information and related transactions in the cloud. This collaboration will help us maintain strong, strategic partnerships with our providers.”
Electrolux sells more than 40 million products to customers in more than 150 markets annually. Products include refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, cookers and air conditioners sold under brands such as Electrolux, AEG, Zanussi, Eureka and Frigidaire.
“We are pleased to add Electrolux to the community of global companies that use our cloud supply chain platform,” said Andy Stinnes, managing director in Europe and executive vice president for products and strategy at GT Nexus.
GT Nexus said its transportation sourcing capabilities add standardization and partner collaboration into the end-to-end spend management process from initial procurement, through allocation optimization, contract management, freight audit and final payment. A business intelligence layer sits on top of the information platform that provides Electrolux with advanced analytics and real-time performance monitoring dashboards.
“With a long, complex global supply chain involving a diverse mix of import and export trade lanes, reducing transportation cost is important, but it’s not the only driver for Electrolux,” GT Nexus said. – Eric Johnson
