EMERY EXTENDS MD-11 FREIGHTER LEASE

Emery Worldwide has extended a wet-lease contract for an MD-11 freighter operated by Virginia-based wet-lease airline World Airways.
The extended lease runs through the end of 2000. Emery uses the MD-11 to move freight between Brussels and its hub in Dayton, Ohio, five times a week.
World Airways said the contract will generate $26.5 million over the
life of the deal. The contract renewal will help World in its transition
from a passenger-focused leasing airline to a more cargo-focused company.
The Emery deal comes while World is in negotiations with Malaysian
Airlines System to resolve MAS’s failure to make lease payments on an MD-11 freighter under contract at the carrier through September next year.
