Emirates focuses on Caribbean with SeaFreight Agencies Emirates Shipping Line of Dubai said Thursday it hopes to expand its business in the Caribbean, reaching an agreement to have SeaFreight Agencies (Jamaica) act is its agent in Jamaica and elsewhere in the Caribbean.
   Emirates Shipping was started early this year and offers a total of four services, including a service between Asia and the Gulf of Mexico that calls Colon, Panama; Kingston, Jamaica; plus Tampa, Mobile and Houston. That service calls Kingston both inbound and outbound before and after calling the U.S. ports.
   Emirates Shipping also offers a service between the Indian subcontinent, the Mediterranean, and the U.S. East Coast, calling New York/New Jersey, Norfolk, and Charleston.
   An Emirates press release said the carrier was 'sailing into the Caribbean' and that SeaFreight (Jamaica) would offer agency services in Kingston and Montego Bay. The release also noted that 'SeaFreight's experience in the industry not only covers Kingston, but its network spans the Caribbean, and this will certainly assist Emirates in expanding its services to cover the region.'
