Emirates Shipping Line open for business

   Emirates Shipping Line, a startup company headed by former Norasia chief executive officer Vikas Khan, today officially opened for business.

   The company is registered in Dubai with commercial headquarters in the United Arab Emirate-state and Hong Kong.

   “We are very pleased to be up and running and providing Emirates Shipping Line with strategically located offices in the fastest growing regions of the world,” said Khan, chairman and chief executive officer of Emirates Shipping Line.

   “All the pieces are now in place and we are ready to launch the first of our services in the coming weeks. We will be making an announcement on this shortly.”

   The long talked about new venture is thought to be about to start a service using 3,000-TEU ships between the United States, India, Middle East and the Mediterranean.

   Emirates Shipping Agencies (India) Private Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of the Emirates Shipping group, will represent the company in India. In Singapore, Emirates Shipping Line has appointed Star Navigation Sdn Bhd to act as its agent, while in Starship Agencies (MAL) Pte. Ltd and PT. Maer Translindo Pratama will serve the company in Malaysia and    in Indonesia respectively.
