ôEmma Maerskö sister delayed Maersk Line has told American Shipper that adverse weather conditions and Christmas holidays have put back the delivery period of its fourth giant 'PS' class containership.
   The Danish company has given the series of eight ships a declared capacity of 11,000 TEUs, but they are believed to have a physical capacity closer to 14,800 TEUs. The ships' dimensions are 397 meters (1,302.5 feet) long, 56 meters (183.7 feet) wide and 30 meters (98.4 feet) deep.
   Maersk's sister company, the Odense Steel Shipyard in Lindo, Denmark, is building the series with a targeted delivery gap of about two months, which, if the scheduled had been maintained, would have seen the latest vessel, 'L-206,' arrive at least a few weeks ago.
   The 'Emma Maersk' was the first of the 'PS' series to be named on Aug. 12 and was later followed by the 'Estelle Maersk' on Oct. 2 and the 'Eleonora Maersk' on Nov. 25.
   All of the 'PS' ships are to be deployed in the Asia/Europe trade.
