England’s airports report March cargo throughput

   A total of 1.5 million metric tons of cargo were handled at the airport from April 2015 through March 2016, a 1.1 percent year-over-year decline.
   On a brighter note, cargo volumes at London Stansted Airport surged 13.7 percent year-over-year in March to 22,006 metric tons, while on a rolling 12-month basis, cargo volumes rose 4.8 percent year-over-year to 243,165 metric tons, according to data from the airport.
   Gatwick Airport, located just 28 miles south of London, handled 5,832 metric tons of cargo in March, a 26.1 percent decline from March 2015, the airport said. Between April 2015 and March 2016, Gatwick Airport’s cargo volumes fell 20.8 percent year-over-year to 70,003 metric tons.
