English smoking ban affects truckers
The Freight Transport Association has reminded its members that England’s smoking ban, which comes into force from July 1, also applies to any vehicle used for work, including trucks and vans, and there is no exemption for heavy goods vehicles with a sleeper cab.
The new law will require signs to be displayed inside vehicles, and to help with the transition the FTA has produced a Smoking Compliance Guide, available at www.fta.co.uk/information/briefing-digest .
