Entry summary capabilities added to ACE
New functionality in the Automated Commercial Environment offers importers a streamlined method of filing entry summaries with antidumping and countervailing duty payments, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Thursday.
The agency's new information technology system for processing trade can now accept entry summary transmissions from companies that share information through electronic data interchange. The entry summary is the detailed declaration filed by importers within 10 days of goods being cleared into the country along with applicable duties and user fees.
CBP said ACE can now handle 99 percent of all entries it receives.
Features of the ACE antidumping and countervailing release include:
' ACE portal users can search, display and print antidumping and countervailing case information and messages.
' ACE portal users can track the lifecycle of a antidumping and countervailing case.
' Filers can respond to CBP's request for information and action (CBP forms 28, 29 and 4647) via the ACE portal for all entry summaries, even if they are submitted via the older Automated Commercial System.
' Brokers with an ACE portal account can create declaration records for importers that do not have an ACE portal account.
'The successful deployment of this release paves the way for continued modernization and greater expansion of improved business processes such as Remote Location Filing,' said Daniel Baldwin, executive business owner for ACE, and the assistant commissioner for the Office of International Trade.
