Environment Canada allows Vancouver to resume Deltaport dredging

The Vancouver Port Authority said Monday that dredging at the port's Deltaport Third Berth Project will once again be allowed by Canadian environmental regulators.

In early August the port learned that dredged material from the project was being disposed of outside a designated area. On Monday Environment Canada allowed dredging to continue, but with two new conditions:

' An independent marine surveyor, mutually agreeable to Environment Canada and VPA, must be on-board all tugs towing material destined for disposal at sea.

' Environment Canada requires a daily report on volume of material and coordinates of disposal for all disposal activities.

Environment Canada’s investigation is still ongoing
