Envirotainer, CHEP forge cold-chain deal

   The unit load device (ULD) firm Envirotainer is planning to rollout four new facilities in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Singapore and Vienna dedicated to cold-chain cargo service.
   The company has also banded together with CHEP Aerospace Solutions to better serve the healthcare industry.
   Its new collaboration with CHEP will spread Envirotainer’s container maintenance, handling and repair practices around the globe. CHEP, in turn, will provide Envirotainer with new information technology capabilities. The two sides are hoping the partnership will also spur additional innovation and process developments.
   “Today’s announcement with CHEP Aerospace Solutions is another solid step in our journey to build on our strong foundation in Active Cold Chain services and to further expand our capabilities. It takes our global service network into a new era,” Gustaf Ljunggren, chief executive officer of Envirotainer, said in a statement. “This partnership will help us fully deliver on our network strategy by giving us strong IT back-end capabilities and MRO excellence, in addition to our already strong global service network.”
   At CHEP, president Ludwig Bertsch added that this new partnership will help expand CHEP’s global reach.
   “Our relationship with Envirotainer represents an excellent opportunity for CHEP to expand our MRO solutions within this high-end part of the business,” he said in a statement. “The Active Cold Chain is a vibrant and very important market, and we will look to extend it to other parts of the world over time.” – Jon Ross
