Equity firm invests in Canadian trucking provider

   Private equity firm Wind Point Partners has invested an undisclosed amount for a majority stake in Dicom Transportation Group, with support from the current management and Scott Dobak, who will become Dicom’s chief executive officer.
   Rick McClelland, the former CEO of Dynamex, will serve as Dicom’s new chairman of the board, while Joe Lawler, who served as CEO of ModusLink Global Soultions, and Tom Schmitt, the former CEO of Purolator, will also join the board.
   The Montreal, Quebec-based LTL and truckload service provider, which generates around $175 million in sales each year, operates the Dicom Express, GoJiT and JiT24.7 brands.
   Currently, Dicom is focused on acquisitions, according to a press release announcing the deal, and has its eye on TMS, LTL and courier firms in the United States, Ontario and Quebec. Officials would also like to expand their reach to cross-border 3PLs and trucking companies that operate among the United States, Canada and Mexico.
   Dicom is the only transportation company in Wind Point’s portfolio.
