ESC to develop security plan for Port of San Francisco

Embarcadero Systems Corp. said Friday it has been awarded a contract to develop physical security plans, security technology and security plan implementation recommendations for the Port of San Francisco’s seven and a half miles of shoreline stretching from Hyde Street Pier in the north to India Basin in the south.

Under the five-month contract, the ESC-led team will provide a comprehensive physical security plan suited to protect the unique needs of the Port of San Francisco, recognizing its significant tourist industry and open access to waterfront facilities.

ESC maritime experts have collectively developed more than 20 security plans and assessments for some of the world’s largest port operators, including in Oakland, Portland, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Jakarta, St. Petersburg, Russia and Sri Lanka. In the past three years, the team has implemented more than $12 million in security systems, which include surveillance systems, wireless communications, access control and physical security barriers, the company said in a statement.
