ESPMC-WITASS lines lower bunker surcharge rates as ships slow down    Carriers in the ESPMC-WITASS Conference that covers the Europe/Caribbean/South America trade have lowered their bunker surcharge for January sailings at a time when many lines are experimenting with slowing the service speed of ships in order to save on fuel consumption.
   The U.S.-dollar and euro-denominated surcharges will be:
   * $224/224 euros (from $235/235 euros) per TEU.
   * $448/448 euros (from $470/470 euros) per FEU.
   * $11/11 euros (from $12/12 euros) per freight ton.
   The conference said it has updated the formula for calculating its bunker surcharge to “reflect the consumption patterns of the vessels now serving the trade.”
   Member lines of ESPMC-WITASS are CMA CGM, Compania Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV), Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd and “K” Line.
