ESPMC-WITASS to raise fuel, Panama Canal surcharges    Shipping lines in the Europe/Caribbean/South America trade ESPMC-WITASS conference will raise their bunker and Panama Canal surcharges for May sailings.
   The conference BAF will be $548/548 euros (from $521/521 euros) per TEU and $1,096/1,096 euros (from $1,042/1,042 euros) per FEU. The per-freight-ton surcharge will rise to $27/27 euros (from $26/26 euros).
   The low-sulphur fuel surcharge will be $9/7 euros per TEU (from $4/4 euros) for shipments to and from Baltic Sea ports, Hamburg to Le Havre range, Scandinavian countries, Poland, and the United Kingdom and Ireland.
   Also in May, the ESPMC-WITASS lines will increase their Panama Canal surcharge as a result of the next staged toll increase at the Central American transport corridor. The euro denominated southbound surcharge will be 159 euros per TEU (from 150 euros). The U.S. dollar denominated northbound charge will be $206 per TEU (from $195).
