Euromax Terminal, a new deep-water container complex in the Port of Rotterdam, was officially opened Friday.

The terminal is a joint development between the CKYH Alliance — an Asia container line group comprising COSCO Container Lines, “K” Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin Shipping — and Europe Container Terminals (ECT), a member of the Hong Kong-based Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) Group.

Euromax is located at Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte area directly on the North Sea. It has a total area of 84 hectares with a quay length of 1,500 meters, and will offer an annual capacity of 2.3 million TEUs when the first phase of development is completed in June 2009. When all four phases of development are complete, Euromax will have a total capacity of 5.6 million TEUs.

The Port of Rotterdam's new Euromax Terminal officially opened Friday.

Meanwhile, ECT on the same day opened the 840-meter Delta Barge Feeder (DBF) terminal, a dedicated feeder and barge terminal within the ECT Delta Terminal that has an annual handling capacity of 700,000 barge and feeder moves.
