Euromed upgrades U.K./Cyprus ro/ro service

Euromed upgrades U.K./Cyprus ro/ro service London-based Euromed Maritime Ltd. has fixed the 246-TEU roll-on/roll-off vessel Victoria VI on time-charter to upgrade its service between Harwich in the United Kingdom and the Port of Famagusta in Cyprus, into a regular monthly sailing.
   Euromed had only offered the service on spot charter.
   The Panama-registered vessel has a trailer capacity of 65, as well as space for 290 standard-sized cars. The ship has been chartered by Harvest Shipping Services Ltd., Euromed’s exclusive chartering agents, since the early 1990s.
   'During the past few years, Euromed business has grown steadily, and this latest development is an opportunity to attract new import cargoes from the Eastern Mediterranean countries,' said Mike Holmes, Harvest’s managing director.
   'Harwich is an ideal port for serving the heart of England, and its location close to London is attractive, especially for clients importing cargoes in preparation for the Olympics in 2012.'
