EUROPE/EAST COAST SOUTH AMERICA SERVICE DROPPED

EUROPE/EAST COAST SOUTH AMERICA SERVICE DROPPED

Compania Sud Americana de Vapores, Contship Containerlines and P&O Nedlloyd have dropped their joint fortnightly north Europe/East Coast South America service, whilst adding a seventh ship to their weekly string in the same trade.

The vessel “P&O Nedlloyd Pampas” made the final voyage on the EECSA 2 service when it called Hamburg on Jan. 2. The service had used three ships averaging 1,657 TEUs. As a result of the service being cancelled the trade will see a reduction of about 43,000 TEUs in annual one-way capacity.

The EECSA 2 service had previously called Rotterdam, Tilbury, Hamburg, Antwerp, Bilbao, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Paranagua, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itajai, Rio de Janeiro, Rotterdam, Tilbury, Hamburg, Antwerp and Bilbao.

The 2,474-TEU vessel “Laura S” operated by CSAV, is scheduled to join the weekly EECSA 1 service when it departs from Buenos Aires on Jan. 15. Calls at Bilbao, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande and Montevideo previously only called by the EECSA 2 service will now be incorporated into the itinerary of the EECSA 1 service.

The EECSA 1 service will use seven ships averaging 2,465 TEUs and its revised port rotation will be Rotterdam, Tilbury, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Bilbao, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Paranagua, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itajai, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Rotterdam, Tilbury, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre and Bilbao.

Lykes Lines, Senator Lines and NYK all charter space on the revised service.
