Europe hit by storms Powerful storms caused havoc in Europe over the weekend with damages including container cranes being crushed at the British port of Felixstowe and the roof of D'sseldorf Airport in Germany being torn off.
   At Felixstowe, new cranes being carried onboard the Chinese ship Zhen Hua 23 fell on two landside cranes in the Landguard Terminal when 80 mph winds snapped the supporting ropes.
   Port Manager Peter Davey told the BBC no one was injured during the incident and that it will only cause a minor impact on operations as most of the port’s traffic comes into the Trinity Terminal.
   “The main thing is there was no injury,” he said. “However, two cranes have been damaged — it’s extensive. I can’t say how long they will be out of action, in fact it’s unlikely they will ever work again, as they will possibly be written off.”
   Services on the U.K.’s West Coast main line between London and Glasgow have been severely delayed after containers from two freight trains fell onto tracks in the high winds.
   In Germany, aside from the damage at the Dusseldorf Airport, Frankfurt International Airport was forced to cancel 70 flights early Saturday, while Deutsche Bahn reported dozens of trains delayed due to debris-scattered tracks and downed electrical lines.
   Similar events were reported in the Czech Republic and Austria.
