The Europe Middle East Rate Agreement, the Aqaba Rate Agreement and the
Jeddah Service Group — three conferences of ocean carriers in the Europe/Mideast and
Europe/Red Sea liner trades — have announced that they will reinstate a bunker surcharge
on Nov. 20.
The bunker charge will be $20 per TEU.
The conferences said that bunker costs have escalated and carriers
cannot continue to absorb these additional costs.
