Europe/West Coast South America lines raise Panama Canal surcharge

The European/South Pacific & Magellan Freight Conference, a carrier group in the Europe/West Coast South America liner shipping trade, will increase its Panama Canal surcharge in January, citing continuing congestion at the canal.

The surcharge will increase to $100 per TEU for shipments with dollar-denominated freight rates and 80 euros per TEU for euro-denominated rates.

Carriers of the European/South Pacific & Magellan Freight Conference are CMA CGM, Compania Sud Americana de Vapores, Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd, “K” Line and P&O Nedlloyd.
