EVA to end passenger service to Paris, start all-cargo service

EVA to end passenger service to Paris, start all-cargo service Taiwanese air carrier EVA Air said Monday it is halting direct Taipei-to-Paris passenger flights on Nov. 23 as it focuses on more profitable routes.
   However, EVA said it would launch dedicated Taipei/Paris freighter service in January.
   In a statement, EVA said increasing fuel costs and compensation fees for over-fly routes are leading it the airline to redeploy the new Boeing 777-300ERs it has been flying to Paris to the busy Los Angeles/Taipei passenger route to boost frequency from 17 to 20 flights per week.
   EVA's non-cargo direct service to Europe will now include six regularly scheduled flights to London each week, four to Amsterdam and three to Vienna.
   Air cargo between Asia and Europe is still strong, with EVA saying it is carrying full cargo loads to Europe and returning to Asia with freighters filled to 90 percent of capacity. The dedicated Taipei/Paris air cargo service will use an MD-11 freighter.
