EVANS & SUTHERLAND PICKS DANZAS TO HANDLE HEAVYWEIGHT FREIGHT

Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp., a provider of simulation and virtual reality applications, has selected Danzas North America to handle shipments weighing more than 100 pounds.

Danzas North America, based in Darien, Conn., will manage transportation, warehousing and customs brokerage services for Evans & Sutherland’s global shipments moving on a “door-to-airport” basis. Then, the company’s end customers arrange for goods to be shipped from the destination airport to the final point of delivery.

Evans & Sutherland produces hardware and software to create visual images for flight simulators, planetariums, interactive theaters, and training programs for military and commercial clients. About 90 percent of the company’s products are made in the United States.

The contract allows Evans & Sutherland to consolidate its global vendor base. Four years ago, the company used 13 logistics providers. Now, it’s down to two: Danzas for large parcels, and a second, unnamed provider for small-package traffic.

Terms of the multi-year agreement were not disclosed. The Danzas Group, which has its headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, is part of Deutsche Post World Net.
