Evergreen adds service to Teesport
Evergreen, the Taiwanese container shipping line, has incorporated Northeast British port Teesport, owned by PD Ports, into its weekly shipping services from the Far East.
The new transshipment service over Rotterdam, operated by Feederlink, started Aug. 1 and is expected to bring in additional volumes of containers from suppliers in the Far East.
These will include Tesco shipments being delivered to the retailer's new 1.2 million-square-foot import facility, which opened at Teesport on Aug. 17. Tesco chose Teesport as its northern logistics hub in 2008, enabling the retailer to locate, store and distribute goods destined for its northern U.K. markets.
Evergreen joins fellow shipping line Maersk, which also ships containers through Teesport on feeder vessels on behalf of Tesco.
